Farmall A Tractor

I have a little mini crawler dozer that is an International. I been told it has an A engine in it. Its been sitting for some time, I need to know what cylinder is considered number one on the Famall A, is it the front cylinder or the back cylinder. We are trying to check if the plug wires are hooked up right cause shes not firing right. Does anyone have one of these crawlers or know of another one, its very small, would fit in a pickup truck. Mine is in very nice condition but just been sitting.

Neat factoid: #1 could be front or rear on a 4-cylinder IH engine. It doesn't matter, as long as you base your timing on the cylinder being at TDC on the compression stroke. Both front and rear cylinders line up with the timing mark on the front pulley.

When I get this thing running I will get pics and post it on the Tractor Photos. Thanks for your help guys.

If its timed to No1 piston your plug wires should be in this firing order on the cap: Hal
2-1
4-3
If its timed to No4 they need to be in this order:
3-4
1-2
