Precleaners

Been watching precleaners for letter series on ebay. Why does everybody want the ones with the jar and not the screen? Were they both orginal?

The collector pre-cleaner (with jar) was optional on Farmalls. The pre-cleaner with jar was optional for tractors being used in extremely dirty or dusty areas. The jar catches more dirt and dust. They usually bring $100+ on eBay and you can get the regular top for $10-$15.

Mesh was standard, jar was optional. Many were shipped with jars. Why do people prefer them? -- probably because the jar type was considered an upgrade. I prefer the jar because that's what I'm used to looking at. It is on my H, SH, and M. On the other hand my Super A and both C's have the mesh cap. To me the mesh looks better on the smaller tractors. I suppose it's just what I'm used to. The precleaner with the jar supposedly is more efficient.

I don't know.... Why does everybody with a '70 Boss 302 want the rear window slats; why does everybody with a '69 Z-28 want the rear spoiler? They were options, but everybody wants them, even if their particular car did not come with them when new. mike
