H oil pressure

I had checked out an H last week, and I've got one more question for you guys. It's a 44 or 46, and it has the Zone type oil pressure gauge, no numbers. The first 1/5th of the gauge is green, then the last 4/5ths are yellow. When the engine had warmed up, the indicator was still in the green zone at 3/4 throttle. Is this an acceptable pressure reading for an H? This tractor also has the grinding governor, which made me think the pressure was too low to oil the governor. Any thoughts? Thanks!

It should peg the gauge when cold and about 1/2 throttle. Once it is warmed up, anything over 1/4 is OK.

If you really want to know, get a gauge that goes to 100 psi and is labeled with numbers. Spec is 75 psi for a new engine, anything 20 psi and up hot is OK.

The grinding noise in the governor is probably not due to low oil pressure. It might be worth taking the cover off and having a look inside.
