Thanks for all the input on the tractor value of the Cub I was looking at.
I found the following about it:
Sheet metal is PERFECT
Engine runs VERY smoothly, w/ no smoke.
Tranny is quiet and tight.
Steering is tight.
One point hitch works flawlessly.
No cracks, welds, brazing, or cobbled up anything.
Wrong front lights, but they do work.
Rear light w/ red tail light lens works, but needs new clear lens.
Tires are 45 degree Firestone's on the back, no cracking, little wear. Fronts appear to be relativey new, but of the old notched side design.
Battery box needs replaced, but could be made serviceable w/ some work.
New dist. cap, coil, plugs, wires, etc. Orignal wiring harness.
Comes w/ IH equipment as follows:
one 12" single point plow, w/ good bottom but no coulter.
Excellent single gang, one point disc w/ perfect blades AND all scrapers.

5' belly mount sickle mower, working condition and complete. Has had one support rod welded.
Really cool single point carrier w/ box.
Complete set of front and rear IH wheel weights.

I gave $2300 for all.

What is the opinion now?

i think you done outstanding. great looking tractor, a lot of good implements with it too!!!! and that lil girl will put in a days work too!!

You should be very proud. That is a nice little tractor all by itself, and then the attachments ......? Wow, you got a good deal in my opinion.

That is a great buy with it running that well and the tin straight. But with all the attachments that is a very good deal.. Congrats... :D

Whew! I feel better now.... I got home and started having "buyer's remorse"... and was wondering what my wife would think. She's pretty good about my purchases, as I've always seemed to come out good on them if I sell one, but $2300 is a chunk of change. I had her drive one at our recent show, and she indicated it was pretty nice... which I liberally interpreted into "buy one"....
I've been wanting a Cub since 1986, when I first got into tractors, but never seemed to find a GOOD one... lots of beat up ones, but not a really straight one. I know you can easily sink WAY over $2300 in a restoration, if its done correctly, so I don't feel too badly about it now.. A good cleaning, correct lights and new battery box, and its as good as new. I may even part w/ a few of the implements to offset the price. (If I can post tomorrow, it means she didn't kill me tonight:)

Good deal. I will say I didnt like the original lights when I put them on mine. I bought it with these, and after I mounted the oprigianls, it just didnt look right, so I put hem back on.

I have wanted one of the last all red Cubs for some time; the last auction that I went to to buy one, complete with poor tires and would not start, sold for $6400.00; and the buyer did not know what he had, he only wanted a mate for his H and M...go figure...Darald in Sk

Great deal, nice tractor!Up here in Ct they would of taken your shirt and pants too for that tractor...plus another 2k

Nice tractor John.....your very lucky to have picked up all of that for 2300.00 I sold a B last year for 3000.00 with no implements. Is your Cub an International Cub, or a Farmall Cub? I can't quite make out the markings on My screen.

You may have known this already, but if I were you, I'd keep those notched front tires. They are the classic old style (as far as I know) and Miller Tire gets a good price for them. In my opinion they're very desireable.

Nice tractor!
