What?! A 756 with a belt pulley?

I thought I had seen everything when I saw IH has a belt pulley listed for both 756's in the parts books. The 560's also had a pulley under the hood or on the PTO. The 706 & 806 have a standard & a heavy duty pulley for the PTO. When did they stop making a belt pulley for the PTO? I see the 856 had one listed & I think that tractor lasted through most of the 1970s. Is the IPTO pulley interchangeable with any other IH tractors? I see there is a hydraulic hose or two involved with the PTO setup. What are these for?Anyone have one they'd want to part with? Please excuse the exitement, the flat belt pulley is my favored form of power transmission! Thanks - Mike

the hose you see is a lube line. i'm guessing that the last ih model to use the common two speed pto that started with the 706 era was the 3688.

Mike; A belt pully is an interesting form of power transmission. We powered a hammer mill and a buzz saw with a flat belt. And I was still using the flat belt to power the buzz saw right up untill I retired. Used either an M or a Farmall 300 or the Ferguson to run the saw.

I have the rear PTO belt pulley and gearbox. There are several models and they are geared differently. The pulley itself will not interchange with the earlier pulleys. It is bolted with six bolts and the flange is a different diameter.

Mine is essentially NOS. I bought it in a wooden crate from a local dealer's obsolete parts trailer. I have had it mounted briefly on both my 660 and 504. It has never tun a belt. It is available for sale. I saw one go for over $700 on eBay last year.
