stuck 656 value

I found a 656 tractor (1966), gas motor stuck, sitting outside. All sheet metal and emblems seem to be there. I approached the owner and he will sell it. I only have familerity with letter series tractors. He wants me to make an offer. What should I offer?

As I tell people like that, it is their tractor, they name a price. If it is within my budget, I will buy it. that way, you don't offer more than he will take and you will not insult him with too low a price.

Its a situation where he doesn't really care if he sells it, its not sitting there with a sign on but, it may be an interesting project.

Offer him scrap iron price first. I'm sure it is worth more than that, but you have to start somewhere. You also need to find out why the engine is stuck. Did something else happen first so he parked it and then the engine stuck?
