spark plug won't turn

I agree with John. Just don't get too wild with the impact. I would soak some penetrating oil on it. Then warm it. Then try the impact on it. Just turn the impact down so you don't create more work.

Had this happen on a M. I broke the porcline of the plug, cleaned all oil from around the area, then heated plug with torch. Dont use a cutting tip, use a small welding tip #2 or #3. Heat it slowly and it will come. Good luck!

Keep your face out of the "flightpath" for any fire, carbon, and debris that will blast out of the hole in the broken spark plug if any gas mixture left in the cylinder "lights off".

I found this out in high school, in the Vo-Ag shop, when just that scenario happened. The music room was the next room down the hall, and the floor was about 6' "below grade". The music teacher made it across
the room, up the stairs, and down the hall in record time, to find out what the explosion was!

The auto shop I worked in often ran into broken off or rusted off plugs. The boss used that same exact proceedure with a small brazing tip. then we would douse the red hot plug with cold water and it would turn out easily with a vice grip or an easy out or anything you could get a hold of it with. We then blew the cylinder out with air and replaced the plugs. We had a Buick grand national come in and seven of the eight plugs twisted off ..they all came out with that proceedure

WD-40 is a 'water displacement" fluid, mostly fish oil. If you want to penetrate rust I suggest you buy a rust penetrating product. PB Blaster, The solvent IH dealers sell, or "Loosen All".
