Small diesel on pto generator

I have a 25thou watt pto generator that gets used to frequently in the winter, For the past several years I have used an M to run it. this was due to the fact the govenor on the M would respond to the variable loads and maintain a pretty constant frequency. If I were to replace the M with a 45hp DX 45 would the diesel have the capability to respond to the variable loads on the generator. I know it takes 1.25 hp per 1000 watts but the prm is my concern.

IMO the diesel governor should be MUCH more sensitive to changing load than the governor on an M Farmall. Betcha it burns way less fuel too.

I agree with Tractorman - the diesel will provide MUCH better load (frequency) regulation. And it will burn 25-30% less fuel.

I use a JD 855 with 3-cylinder Yanmar diesel in it to run my 25 KVA generator. It's a 19 pto hp tractor, and I get by OK. I just can't load the generator to full capacity. It has plenty of capability for standby for my house and well. Of course, there are lots of thing I don't use, like the heat pump and electric stove.
