I found an IH mogul not sure if it is an 8-16 or a 10-20. Not real sure how complete it is. Maybe 75% to 80% complete. I didn't get a good close look at it. Is this worth pursuing any further? If yes, what are things to look out for if I do get a closer look at it? How much would something like this be worth? If I got it where would someoe get parts for it? Machine shop I guess. Any thoughts or opinions?

Zach, Mueller Brother welding @ Georgetown Texas. These old fellows can rebuild, remake, cast parts to just about anything that movers. They are very close to the Soccer fields of Southwestern University there in Georgetown! I will try to locate a # for them for you tomorrow.

I would say its worth if you think you could find parts. We have been looking for clutch parts for our 8-16 in the shed for 20 years. The clutch pressure spider is missing the bearing (throwout bearing). If we had that we one we could run it.

Anyone happen to have one sitting in a dusty old box somewhere?

You mean the engineering drawings from when they were built? Where can they be found? We have the manual that shows the parts breakdown. We also have the pressure spider just minus the bearing installed in it. Nothing from modern day matches even close. Though about using a tapered roller bearing inside there but do not wish to make any modifications that cannot be undone to the original parts.

I would say it should absolutely be saved if nothing else for parts. It's our job to preserve the past.

I thought if anything it would be worth something in parts. But I would like to restore it from the ground up. This may take a couple of years (money). I think they are interesting machines.

Shhot me an e-mail with the part number and I can shoot you back a drawing with the e-mail. Case-IH donated a bunch of the older drawings to the Wisconsin Historical Society, I can send them out to you (taking some of the load off the Society folks).

bill, have you tried a machine shop to fab up the parts you need? if you took them the old spider, they could maybe duplicate something that would work in place of the original assembly, that way the original spider could be set aside.

Moguls are bringing 30k plus in running condition so even if its not complete its worth persuing. You can rebuild it from the ground up its just a matter of hunting till you find the missing parts or someone to loan you theirs to have made. Lots of phone calls and money but worth it. I'd like to find one and being less than complete wouldnt slow me down
