Has anyone seen one of these kill switches on an H before? Its the first one i've come across around my area...

I've heard about them, read about them, etc. but never have seen one in person before.

I believe they were troublesome and most got a field conversion to the new style switch...

Thanks for the info , i guess i'll tryin see if i can get it to work on one of the other h's it'd be cool to have somethin kind of unique on one

I have an original H owners manual printed in 1941. On page 27 there is an exact drawing showing in detail that very switch. In the manual, on "stopping the tractor" It states "pull out the magneto grounding switch control button". This button is shown mounted on the rear fuel tank support.

It's all original according to this manual.

If anyone ever gets to Largo, Fl there is a very weathered Farmall A in Heritage Park, a county park at 125st and Walsingham, with this mag.

One of my H"s has a mag like this one. Its a running tractor; the mag and kill switch works great.

I did up a B this past winter that had a mag for the same setup. Non of the cable was left so I used a choke cable conversion kit. Works pretty nicely. Sam

I have one of those on my 41' A. When I bought the tractor I couldn't figure how to shut it off. The guy had a piece of wire run from the switch to the dash, I called the guy and he told me to pull the wire to shut it off. Not until I saw the picture just now did I realize there is actually a cable run to it. Thanks for posting the picture, I am going to hook up a choke cable to it. (Reading these forums sure helps out sometimes). Thanks, Joe

Nice find for someone restoring a early H to original. They used one like in the picture up to tractor serial # 45589.

the early letter series used this set up. I am still looking for a picture of the original knob used. If anyone has a picture id be very greatfull. Thanks Paul

I think the knob is steel. It is painted red. The brassy looking color is the result of glare (flash picture indoors). Note the same color seems to show on the bracket too.
