seem I am missing something, when I look at the serial # plate on my tractor it is stamped be95861 but as far as I have read starting #s in 1955 are 501, in 1956 20219 with not enough in production to hit 95861. Is this info correct, and if so how can this be? Another thing I have not seen on a 300U is NO TA, and NO LIVE PTO with a round cover over the pto shaft. Options?

Last serial was 29578. Are you sure the 1 is not a J, which is the most common letter for Rockford clutch. I is also listed, that may be what you have. In that case your serial is 9586 making it a 1955. TA's and PTO's were always an option. The 300 was available with either live or transmission driven PTO.

you make a lot of sense CNK , will check that out today on the SN's I thaught that the pto, and the Ta, were options, just never seen any without.
