I purchased a H a few month ago and was looking into purchasing a Rotary Mower for my 7 acres can you guys advise what size would work best. I borrowed a 4 ft but it seemed a little small and I think the old girl could pull more, I do have an aftermark 3 pt on it.

Thanks

Ed

A lot depends on what you're cutting, and how healthy your H is. If you're doing stuff not much tougher than a long lawn, you might be able to use a 6-foot mower. But if you're cutting brush with it, or really tall weeds, better stop at a 5-footer.

I would go with 6 foot if it gets to be too much in tall thick grass you can always move over and cut narrower swath. My farming neighbors all have 150/200 HP tractors but when running rotary cutter they run slow (walking speed) because cutter does a lot better job at slow speed.

On my grandpas 51' H thats had some tinkering done to it, we run a old Ford 9 footer behind it for mowing the couple of miles of trails on his property along with some old pastures and for the past 20 years he has mowed about 30 acres of an old waste bed for a local steel mill where the grass is usually about 3 foot high. you have to run in first but it'll do it, our 43' H on the otherhand struggles with a 5 footer in the high stuff...
