F-12/14 Wide Front ?'s

I just came across a gentleman (?) who has an adjustable wide front AND the extended axles (96") for an F-12/14. He is quoting a price of $3,000. Is this reasonable? How rare are these? I think he is high but, I will defer to all of you experts. I know these were available, but again I'm struggling with the cost.

I'm wondering if that's an after market product. A can't imagine IH making wide fronts for a primarily cultivating tractor at that time (those years). They already had plow tractors in the 10-20, 15-30, W-40 models.
Just my thoughts. Take them for what they're worth.
Any moment now somebody in the real know will be along with a correct answer.

yes you could get a wide front for the f-12 and f-14 and they are kind of hard to find. and they also made longer axles for the rear for diff crops.

My parts book shows the extended rear axles as being for 92 inches. The normal WFE will not extend to 92 inches. The list in the parts book for the WFE parts does not show any parts for use with the extra long rear axles. Maybe the extra long rear axles were only meant to be used with the tractors without the WFE.

I am restoring a WFE F-12 right now, and I set the front end at 60 inches.

The rear axle measurement (96") was a typo. The parts book does list a 92" and a 100" rear axle. I don't think a wide front would work too well with the two row cultivator I'm restoring to put on this tractor. Thanks for all of the replies.

I believe they offered two styles of adjustable WF. I have seen two, one made from square stock and the other round/tube stock. I have heard from folks selling and from other folks who heard from sellers that they are getting >$2,000 for complete fronts and assemblies. I have yet to hear from someone who has actually purchased one for those prices. I try not to confuse things that are for sale with things that are being offered....big difference as the things being offered sometimes stay with the offerer for years. If it turns out some have purchased (w/o tractor) for those amounts I can understand why they have kept quiet.....by the by; I have a bridge for sale cheap if anyones interested.

I feel that the wide front end is rare, and have seen them listed (front-end only) for anywhere from $1500 to $3500 - who knows what they actually sold for (if they even sold).

I think the F12/14 looks pretty neat with a wide front, especially on steel.

Wide fronts were avaiable for the F-12 from the beginning, the dual wheel narrow front came a little later as the original F-12 narrow front was a single front wheel
