I pulled the pan and head pistons. I found loose rod bearings, mains seem tight. The pistons and cylenders measure original. It's hard to beleive that a 51 has never been bored. The manual says just to ring it. I don't know what to do about the rod bearings. Thanks DS

Clevite has them even .002 over size for a crank with slight wear. What wear does the crank have and have you used plastiguage.

You need to get that crankshaft measured for wear.
I would pull the block and the crankshaft and take both to your local auto machine shop. They can measure the shaft and do a valve job. If the shaft needs to be ground undersize they can supply the correct bearings. Have them use a glaze breaker on the cylinders too. Hal

Just remember that the torque on Cub rod bolts is around 15 ft/lb...that's not a lot of torque to begin with.

Since that's .015" of wear they may be able to only grind it to .020" undersize. Take to your local auto machine shop that does crankshaft grinding. They will only take off what is needed.
They can get new bearings too. There's a man in OH that has never used crankshafts for Cubs. Hal
