Diesel in crankase

I have a 2656 IH that has not been started in about 2 yrs. I pulled dip stick, oil looked thin at the bottom of stick, loosened drain plug and oil had some diesel in it. The man that owned the tractor had ran it about 2yrs. ago and it ran fine. I would like some info. on how the diesel might have got into the crankcase.

The seal went to leaking on the pump shaft or if it has a lift pump like on a gas engine the diaphram is bad causing fuel to leak into the oil

Hey Bobby,

My IH 364 has the same problem. if it sets 2 weeks i have to bleed the system to get it to start. I too have diesel in the crankcase. I want to pull the injection pump this winter for a rebuild. I was told the seal might be leaking. By reading the other posts, it could be my lift pump. what type of injection pump does yours have?

John, if you are talking about the brand name, it has been painted over. I scraped off some of the paint and it says Roo?? Master. The line to the pump comes from the 2nd. fuel filter on the right side of the engine, if you are sitting in the seat.
