Need some Farmall 460D help

I've got a 58 460D RC here that has a broken throttle linkage. Just got the tractor and I know nothing about this tractor. The piece that is broken is the piece that goes though a hole in the casted top piece on top of the hydraulic pump. It has a ball and socket type connection. The piece that broke off is missing as well so I don't know how long it is, what angle it is at in relation to the other half. I want to remake the piece that broke off as alot has to come off to get at it. Has anybody had this piece break? How did you fix it?

Also, how much engine oil does it take? Do I need to bleed the fuel line when changing the fuel filters?

Thanks for the help.

MRV,if your tractor has a d282 engine it holds 9 quarts of oil.I have a 560d with same engine.I try to keep as much fuel in the lines as possible as sometimes its tough to bleed air from system.Call salvage tractor places for the linkage as its easier to buy the original piece than fabricating your own. There are a lot of these tractors around and even its far away shipping should't be bad when it's a small piece. Hope this helps.Arkie

Thanks Arkie! This 460 has the D236 in it. From what I have been told to change the fuel filters is to turn the fuel off, change the cartridge filters, put the canisters back on, open the bleeder screws and turn the fule back on. Let the filters fill up and close the bleeder screws once a steady flow of fuel starts to come out. Sound correct? There is no manual pump at the filters to fill the filters up. I guess it's a gravity type system.

Another question is how do I check the fluid level in the hydraulic system and the rear end? I thinl I found the filler hole but no dip stick or whatever to check the fluids.

Thanks!

MRV,that is exactly what I do when I change the fuel filter. To answer your fluid level question,on my 560d there is a plug somewhat beside your gear shift on top. There is no dipstick but I've looked in my IH manual and it says your 460 should hold about 10 gallons.Be sure to reseal your plug as it is subject to
let water in.(Rain,snow,etc.)One word of advice:make sure your glow plugs are working properly and try not to use starting fluid.I wish I had gotten this advice before I had to rebuild my tractor.New glow plugs are cheap compared to a rebuild kit.My two cents worth.

The check plug for the transmission and hydraulics is located near the clutch pedal on the side of the transmission case.

The part you need for the throttle linkage is still available from CIH. I got one from Messick's this summer. Part # 370026R11
