farmall 400

Its been awhile since I've been on the site. Good to be back. I don't know if this an appropriate question for this discussion, but I need to move my old 400 on down the road. Can anyone tell me what it is worth? It has a wide front 2 pt. with 2pt.blade, drawbar, 3pt. convertion, du-all loader with bucket and bale stabber, runs good but TA does not work, and not fresh paint. Would it be worth it to fix TA and fresh paint? Thanks for your help.

A rebuilt t/a would cost around $525 unless you get the parts to fix it and are able to rebuild it yourself. It should be worth replacing the t/a in a 400 for resale value.

Over all condition is much more important than fresh paint, and lots of potential buyers will wonder what you are trying to hide underneath that new paint, so don't go to the trouble and expense of painting it. It is true that a working TA is worth more, but the value of the tractor will most likely not increase enough to offset the cost of fixing that TA. As it sits, with the equipment, I'd estimate the value in the ball park of $2,500.

Skip the paint, condition of the sheet metal (no big dents and no rust throughs) is more important than the paint.

Thanks guys I think I will take some pictures and put it on ebay and maby the classifieds here and see what happens.  Sorry it took a bit to get back, but had familly stuff all day yesterday.
