Is the starter switch on a b different than on an a. I have some O.K. pictures, asnd they look different

Starters on A, B, BN, C and the supers should all be the same. The starter rods are different. The switch on the top of the starter is also the same.

The generators are different with regard to where the voltage regulator is mounted (on the generator or on the block).

Unless I am forgetting something, I believe this to be correct.

Another fine example of giving an answer when you apparently just dont know. The starters are NOT the same as the sw is mounted different. When are people going to stop with so much bad info?

Well Gene, good point.

I have used starters from B's on C's, and vice versa. I do not own an A, so there you have it. I do know that the block on all 3 is basically the same, so the assumption on my part is that they would work. Now if you are stating that the direction the starter switch is mounted is different, I would agree. on my BN, you push the starter rod foward. On my SC, you pull the starter rod back. I will tell you though that the start switch itself is the same, just mounted in reverse direction.

I guess i am in need of an education. How about posting some pictures to illustrate the difference?

Its the location of the button on the starter as the A and B the button is on the front and the C and supers it is on the back. You are correct the sw is the same. When you get a rebuilt now the location of the button is mentioned. I see ones that have the threaded post on As and Bs even the Cs then they have to use a solenoid or a H,M type sw to enguage the starter. All depends on if you want to be original.
