Sparks from exhaust pipe

I was driving my 484 around in the dark and noticed sparks from the exhaust. There wasnt alot of sparks but every once in a while Id see a few come out.

It has 10 hours on the rebuilt engine and it runs like a dream. Is sparks normal from the exhaust or is something wrong?

This has a 179ci 3cyl diesel if it matters.
 
Hi Michael, that is normal for the IH German Diesel engines. Just put it to work and the carbon will soon burn out of the muffler. My brother's 684 would spit out lots of hot carbon when we put it on the forage chopper in the fall. After chopping about two loads of corn the carbon was cleaned out of the muffler.

In the daylight I seen some black flakes come out but today I notices some glowing. This was the first time Ive drove it while it was dark.

I wonder how many grass fires started from a horizontal exhaust.
 
Mike,I live in a small subdivision and theres always kids riding there bicycles around,One evening I started my F14 for the first time in several weeks,to my surprise I heard one of the kids riding by started using a lot of foul languish and started rubing his head,a spark had blew out of the exhaust and landed on his head,it was very humorous
