Looking for a tachometer gear for an International 300 utility. Drive gear is located in distributor housing. Plastic gear is stripped. Case IH does not make new gears, special option at that time.

Hmmm, thats strange. Case IH told me they could get the gear but not the complete drive assy, which is what I needed about a month ago.
I got mine from McGrew Equipment in PA.
You might try them, www.mcgrewequipment.com

If you have a housing with notches on the OD that the 2 mounting screws pass through I don't think you can get parts. Haven't tried to get one in a few years so don't know if this will help. IH did sell package # 369694 R91 to replace early parts with. It uses housing # 369692 R1, gear 369695 R1
and drive gear retainer 369693 R1. Early drive didn't use the retainer. Late housing will be smooth on OD without notches. If thats what you have the gear # above is what you need if you can get it. Late plastic gear has a metal sleeve on shaft and won't work in previous housings without machine work. If you find used parts a change was made in early gears all plastic shaft clearance because shafts were getting to hot and gauding. Finaly they started using metal on shaft. Hope your not confused now.
