Re-installing PTO Model M

I took the PTO out of my "M" and am having trouble getting it back in. If I try to assemble as a unit, I cannot raise the shaft up unough to match the countershaft;Too heavy as there is too much leverage. If I install the tube and then install the shaft I get the shifter out of the notch in the shifter tube. Thanks for the information.

The best and eaisest way to install the PTO is as one unit as you have tried. Might I suggest you get someone to help you if you can"t counterbalance it, as the only other alternative is to remove the cover on the trannsmission and reach down inside to facilitate installation of the PTO.

I will try to do it that way again. I think I will make some long studs to put into the housing where the bolts did go and maybe this will help me to support the back end of the shaft.
