international wd9

I am possibly interested in buying a wd9. Do they all have power steering? Do they have foot or hand clutch. What size tyres do they run? I have heard they have head and rear end problems if they have been worked hard? Any ideas on value? Any experinces or thoughts would be useful
Thanks in advance.
Bill

WD9 was one one IHC better tractors as a work horse, our tractor never had power steering, but you already got negative info on the tractor so you might aswell stay away good tractor like that, as far as rear end and head trouble when you have worked them hard , you just discribed every tractor, for what its worth is a 50+ year old tractor would be.,, :~}

Never heard of a W-9 or WD-9 with rearend trouble...

The diesels would crack the heads if you treated them poorly (not enough warm up time, not enough cool down time), just like ANY diesel engine will.

Power steering was not standard, I believe it was optional later in the production run and there are aftermarket set-ups as well.

They could come with a hand or foot clutch, I believe the foot clutch was more common on most. I think the rice (WDR-9) came more often with a hand clutch and a foot decelerator pedal.

My W-9 has 14x34 tires on it now, 16.9x34 would be the new size. I've also seen them with 18.4x34 and 18.4x38 on them...

i HAVE A 1952 WD9 It has been worked, third gear is noisy as it has plowed alot of ground. mine has power steering but I need to get the pump rebuilt, it starts as it should. i have a 3 inch straight pipe on mine and it will talk to you.
