Hi,i have a Farmall 656 IH tractor don"t know exact year. It runs on idle but when you give it gas after like 5 minutes when it warms up it bogs an then dies. but it will start and idle but if u give it gas it will idle high for a little then bog out an die. I cleaned/rebuilt the carb, blew out fuel lines and they flow good, new spark plugs new points and condenser. all have strong spark. I did a compression test and the shop said it was good compression, they were all around 148-170. Someone told me it was the coil maybe. my dad was mowing and it just started bogging and died. and this is whats been happening for the last month.

The vent in the fuel tank cap may have become plugged. Try running it without the cap in place, but be careful to not allow fuel to slosh out. If the fuel cap is not the culprit, try a new ignition coil.

Sounds like a fuel supply issue to me. I'm not particularly familar with the 656 gasser but does it have a fuel shutoff valve on it like some of the other gasser tractors? That could be giving you fits if the 656 has one on it.

Well first off have the timing checked for full advance at full throttle . Then go back thru the carb and make 100% sure that all passages are open and will get compressed air thru them.Make darn sure that the fuel flow thru the line is full stream . Next make sure that all the manifold bolts are tight . Next change your gas grade 656's require 93 octane min. Also i'll bet the valves are noisy . If ya don't know how to set them then get someone that does.

You may also have a foreign object in the gas tank that is obstructing the fuel flow. Get a good, bright flashlight and have a look.

it has a gas bulb with a screen over it. I am going to drain the gas and take the bulb and line apart and make sure it is not clogged because i am thinking it may be that because everyone has mentioned the gas.

They're not talking about the gas bulb (sediment bowl) underneath the fuel tank!

Down at the carburetor... There should be a little round cylinder with a wire connected on the front. That is the fuel shutoff solenoid.

Down at the carburetor... There is an elbow where the fuel line from the tank enters the carburetor. Inside that elbow is another fuel filter screen.
