Prototype IH with a Cummins???

Heard the other day that there were two IH tractors, I think 450's that had a Cummins in them from the factory. Never took off obviously. Just wondering if there was any truth to the story. And by the way, I fell over from the Case board... however, we do own a Farmall 400!

An aftermarket kit was offered for farmall m - 400- 450 for this engine swap. Very few still survive today... Not a prototype ....

Nope, not a prototype.

I've seen an M with a Sheppard Diesel and an F-20 with a Detroit.

They weren't prototypes either.

Think the story on the 450 you may be refering to is a big farm ordered some from IH without engines and then sent them to cummings to have engine installed. Saw one some years ago at red power roundup in Hookstown PA. I think the write up said it had around 19000 hours. Think there was more than 2 ordered by farm. I could be wrong on the exact story though. Also think it made the red power magazine one time.
