Why do people do this??

International would paint them any colour you wanted provided you wanted a batch. Actually that particular tractor looks almost military? MTF

Andy, I'm with you. I don't know, it does look to be a military green, at least not JD green! Ha, Ha. But if ya look closer at the pictures the farmall red is trying to get out.

This is America, and to deny someone the right to paint an IH tractor green, hot pink, or any color besides IH red would go against what you've been raised to believe about this country.

It looks like a military tractor to me. Look at that drawbar. That's for moving artillery.

From the add:

If you have been watching the other auctions, note that this is the last tractor in our fleet being sold.

I don't think that's JD Green. Some kind of Forestry Agency color?

Possibly U.S.D.A. Forestry service? I've also seen a few IH tractors that had been owned by Burlington Northern railroad, and were painted BN green.

personally, I plan on painting the next Farmall I re-do.......JD green. Why? Uniqueness! It makes for lively conversation, something different and more than anything...the damned thing belongs to me and that"s the color I choose!

When I bought my '49 W4 it was painted JD green with yellow wheels. The original owner was a bachelor from Northern Saskatchewan who would take it to his local John Deere dealer (the only implement place around) for repairs from time to time. One day they called him up and offered to paint it for a good price because they had some paint left over and it was looking a little rough. When he came to pick it up, it had a high quality, shiny new JD paint job.

Let's just say I had a lot of green dust on me before it returned to its correct color scheme!

(quoted from post at 08:42:55 08/25/08) I like rusty brown myself

Me, too!

I'm thinking that maybe a Candy Apple red with some metal flake in it would look nice on my H... it's already far from original with my live hydraulics, power steering, aftermarket wide front, etc. why not make it interesting with some different paint?

Looks more like a military or state agency green. I was worried at first that it would be a JD green abomination.

f you have any of that paint left over, I think it would look pretty sharp on my 350.

You have the best of both worlds for JD lovers. The green paint, and a tractor that actually runs on all cylinders.

I bet it would! That stuff was around $75 a pint last time I checked...

It will be a few years yet before I get that one painted. Living 1400 miles away from my tractor sure stretches things out.

Here's another rusty H. This is my Dad's H. It is a 1946 Gas burning tractor. We bought it a while back and we are still working on it. The engine is still stuck, its stuck pretty hard, but the inside of the engine has no rust. Hopefully we can get this one running soon and paint it IH red, it does not look to me like it was ever repainted, so its pretty rusty.

What difference does the color make? Its still an International tractor. I mean our 340U is red with a shade of yellow and another of orange underneath from its time as a county tractor. Ive seen them anywhere from green ex-millitary cralwers, to yellow ones from the CNW Railroad. I think it would be a real converstaion piece to get one of them. No matter what color it is, its still an IH.
