300 belt pulley

I want to remove the belt pulley trans on my 300. Is there a cover I have to buy to put back on it? Can I get the local welding shop to make me one or is it a special cover? Is there a seal or can I use RTV? I want to lighten the tractor and the pulley hasn't been used in 30 years which is as long as I can remember! Is it much of a job? I haven't really looked at it to see but I do have 10 years of auto mechanic experience under my belt if that is any consulation!

I looked on here for the part but I couldn't find one. I typed in delete kit, delete plate, belt pulley cover, covers and everything I could think of and could not find it. Maybe I am doing something wrong. I am mostly concerned about how to remove it.

As far as I know, that delete cover is not available aftermarket, and it is obsolete from Case-IH. You will have to find a used cover, or make one. I made one from sheetmetal for my M.

Mike at Steel Wheel Ranch has used ones for a H but don't know if they are the same as a 300.

Mark,

I think I have one on the shelf in the shop. I don't know how far away you are, but I'll take a look for it tonight.

Shoot me an email and I'll get you my contact information.

Thanks!

Billy

Removal is straightforward. Once the rod, bolts (long and short), and 2 dowel pins are out, the unit lifts straight up. Be careful, it is heavy. Lift and hold it by the housing. After many years of non-use, expect it to be sludgy inside.
