How can you date your TD-6 crawler? Just call it up some time and see if it's free Friday or Saturday night!

Seriously, check out the serial numbers section of this web site. It's listed on the left.

Another good way of doing it is to check out the date code on the major castings. It will be three characters separated by dashes. The last letter is the year in which the casting was made.
<TABLE border=2> <TR> <td>H=1938 <td>M=1943 <td>R=1948 <td>X=1952 <td>C=1957 <td>H=1962 <tr><td>I=1939 <td>N=1944 <td>S=1949 <td>Y=1953 <td>D=1958 <tr><td>J=1940 <td>O=1945 <td>T=1950 <td>Z=1954 <td>E=1959 <tr><td>K=1941 <td>P=1946 <td>U=1951 <td>A=1955 <td>F=1960 <tr><td>L=1942 <td>Q=1947 <td>W=1951 <td>B=1956 <td>G=1961 </TABLE>
No, that is not an accident at U and W. The book says 1951 is W, but the S/N of my M fits for 1951 and all my castings end with U. I wouldn't be surprised if there were some 1951's with V casting codes. :)

GREAT NEWS - you obviously have quite a bit of "experience" with these female entities? I dont usually go for this type! you know, older, a little temperamental and how can one put it - - "heavy."
seriously - many thanks.
does anyone have a good source for manuals. I am interested in researching the history of these machines in military service - anybody know anything?
Paul.
