i have a 110ih mower, put in new knife sections but doesnt cut that good( guess it needs some new guards). used it for about 15 or 20 mintues ( lifted it up and down several times) but anyway when i jot done tried to lift it all the way up to hook in stay rod but wountgo high enought! added some 10w40 oil, no better and there is no dip stick attached to the cap. iam guessing the pump needs rebuild, looking for advise , parts(never seen a kit for sale), if anyone can help thanks again!also looking for mc- 2041 guards

Look for mechanical limits to the reason it will not go high enough. Be careful to never get near the sections or guards when (if) lifting the bar by hand to attach the rod, they remove fingers instantly.
If the cylinder is extending to its limit, there may be an adjustment of linkage or stops involved. Do not force it higher unless you are sure it is free to go. Does the hydraulic pressure/noise change as it gets to the point it stops?

The Guards might be rebuildable with new ledger plates. (I've done it many times) Some are not replaceable, most are. JimN

thanks jim, raised up ok when cold, had to rev eng. up ( about half throttle ) but after i ran it for a while then dint go up much. i thought when the oil got warm , maybe less pressure?

We run IH swather guards on our sickle mowers. Usually get a few years out of them... beats changing ledger plates.

They (on a good day) put out 750 to 800psi. If you put a gauge on it and it is much less, I would say checking the relief valve might be in order. Or a rebuild might be needed. If the gears and case are worn, they are not able to be repaired.
If you are using Hytran or = fluid, I would use thicker viscosity oil (30 wt non detergent will be good)
If the pressure is up there, a bigger diameter cylinder will work. adding 20% to the diameter will do it.

Can't offer much about your hydraulic trouble, but if that mower isn't cutting good most likely it needs new bearings in the wobble box. When they get worn it throws the mower out of time and causes it to vibrate a bit more than normal. You can check this by pulling up and down on the counter balance at the back of the box. The sickle knive is hooked to the front of it and a big weight on the back. It it will move up, down back and forth it needs bearings.

thanks for info, tried the lift this morning and lifts it all the way, no problem(oil cold).illsee if i can find some ih swather guards
