HELLO EVERYONE
I JUST TRADED FOR A 656 FARMALL TRACTOR HAS NOT FOR A WHILE THE GUY SAID IT RAN GOOD BUT MADE A NOISE IN TRAMISSION GOT IT HOME AND GOT IT STARTED RUNS FINE BUT WILL NOT PULL IN ANY GEAR HAS TA GOT THE TOP OFF AND THE PLANTERY GEARS ARE STRIPPED
IS THERE A EASY FIX OR A GOOD PLACE TO GET USED PARTS MAYBE SINCE THE PRICE OF METAL IS UP TIME CASH IN

Wendell, you don't want to waste your time on used parts, unless you luck out and find a 656 that was junked shortly after the TA was replaced.

Bite the bullet, spend the money on new parts, get it fixed right the first time.
 
You can always weld the TA solid if you are trying to get going as cheap as possible.

To replace the TA you will need to split twice, and since it doesn't move at all I assume the TA clutch is out as well. While you have it apart you will need new seals, new gaskets, new TA clutch parts, new TA, and just as well replace the main clutch while you're in there. Looking at quite a few $$ just for parts and lots of labor charge if someone else is doing it...

This style TA always transmits torque through the planetary gears in both TA and direct drive position.
