Polarizing a voltage regulator

My farmall 350 has a 6 v original system, however I need to change the voltage regulator. How do I do this? My old one had a peice of paper from the manufacturer on how to do this, but the new one (from India) does not, and I was not smart enough to keep the old paper.

Voltage regulators DO NOT need to be polarized.

Generators DO, and the convenient place to do this is at the voltage regulator. That's apparently why folks thinks it's the REGULATOR being polarized.

Since this is a "A-type" charging system, you momentarily jump the "BATT" and "ARM" terminals at the regulator to polarize the GENERATOR. If the generator has been charging to some degree, it is not even necessary to polarize it when replacing the regulator, but it won't HURT to do it.
