Is there a way to lock or pin the fasthitch solid so as to take all the pressure off the hydraulics when you have a bunch of tongue weight on the fasthitch drawbar. Thank you in advance.

Sorry something happened and I didn't get that post fnished. Just used the fast hitch for fast hitch equipment.

At one time there were special brackets available that bolted on the axle housing near the rockshafts. You just pulled the pins from the fast hitch arms on top and moved them to the solid brackets. We have these on our 806. Don't know that they are still available, but probably could be found in some salvage yards.

On a 706, you should be using the straight fixed drawbar, not a drawbar insert in the fast hitch.

Sorry, but I disagree with the posters who say you can't use the fast hitch except on implements. For many years we had a 706 with fast hitch drawbar, and still have an 806 with the fast hitch drawbar. Tractors were used for tillage, baling, pulling loads, only on a JD haybine the drawbar pivot didn't fit the fast hitch. Attached photos show the bracket I previously mentioned to the lower left of the fast hitch arm, 2nd photo shows everyday use of the fasthitch drawbar.

I see many 706's and 806's with just the fast hitch and the fast hitch "drawbar" insert. They pull everything from planters to disks with just the fast hitch. I do agree that a bolted drawbar is the best. As for hooking the 2 point hitch up in a more rigid form, yes the upper end of the links canbe pulled out of the lift arms and slid into castings bolted to the rear transmission casting. My 706 has them but I have never used them as I added the drawbar option which I found at a junk yard.

The early model 706's such as mine didn't come with a fixed drawbar if they had the fast hitch, just the drawbar that fits into the fasthitch. However I would like to add a fixed drawbar but they also didn't come with provision for one. I may end up having to fab one up myself unless someone knows where I might find one.
