Belly hydraulic pump on F20

I have an F20 with a belly pump. It seems that there is tranny fluid going into the pump. What's the fix for this?? I have to drain the pump down every couple months to keep the fluid at the proper level. any help appreciated.

so if you have to drain it down, wheres it coming from?? i would assume it doesnt have a fluid maker in it would it????

The hydraulic fluid I used was from NAPA, but I can see that it is being added to with black stuff, which I assume is tranny fluid, since the pump is bolted to the front of the transmission and runs off the PTO shaft. The pump does have a dipstick which shows it to be overfull right now. Thanks for reply.

Bruce, I think what Old-F20 was getting at is that there is no way for transmission fluid to pass from the transmission to the hydraulic reservoir.

The "belly pump" is an external add-on. It's just hanging on the tractor, not connected to anything.

only a mechanical coupler between the two.

now the next question. is there anything hooked to the pump, IE cylinders for a bucket or something? if so, it may be a check valve thats letting the sytem bleed down over time.

i have found in the past that when i get tractors with a pump on them they get taken off in very short order. most times anything that they would have run has been taken off, and they all leak on the floor and only make messes. plus they are a pain in the a** if you ever have to do any clutch work since they are smack in the way

Unlike the H or M series which use an external coupler, the F20 LiftAll pump is direct coupled to the transmission lower shaft.

I do not know if there is a seal added to the transmission when the pump replaces the end cap on the lower shaft or if there is just the seal in the pump. Once you remove the pump from the transmission you should be able to see what the seal situation is and repair as necessary.
