Howdy,
Called the place in WI and he didn"t have any linkage but put me on the national "list", so hopefully he"ll find something.
In the mean time- already mowed the 3 north fields and have one more to mow by the road. Thing has some hydro leaks- mostly around the gaskets, so I guess that will be on my list of things to do after fall session is over at school.
The PTO has been giving me grief for 3 years now. I adjusted it- evidently not good enough, cause it disengages unless I push back on the PTO lever the whole time I am mowing...which means mowing with one hand and not so fun.
I am wondering if it is more of an RPM issue now than an adjustment issue- and of course- I haven"t replaced the tach- yet.
She runs at 180 degrees constant. Is that ok?

Gonna take some time tonight and just read through some of these messages and see what is happening in YT-ville.

The PTO lever is indexed with a notch on the linkage when pulled back, the button is pushed and it is locked into position. If the pawl and notch are worn, a bit of weld and a file should make it right.
Running wide open is just fine for PTO speed.
180 may be the t-stat setting. (I would back wash the radiator to assure it is flowing air) I would also check the radiator for flow by feeling it all over (grill off is best) to assess tube flow when heated up) Shut it off to feel the back side and avoid the fan. JimN

Hi Jim [again]
Thanks for the tip- didn't have a welder here, so took the PTO handle apart at the lever and cleaned it up real good- then slid a washer in front of it to snug it. Then took the smallest hose clamp I could find and clamped it around the center post between the two notched areas. The PTO works like a charm!! I mowed the area south of the barn and it was actually a pleasant experience for a change!!!

Thank you!!!!

Some little things are really big issues when known, and fixed.. Thanks for the update.

The rear axle seal leak will continue until the axle seal is replaced. The level in the trans should be about one finger joint below the plug to be both safe, and not leak much. I think I would live with it.
If the oil leak at the square hole with missing plate is also tranny fluid, and not seaping from an external gasket, the seal in the torque tube requires a split of the tractor. If it is an external gasket, I would tighten the trans to torque tube bolts first to see if it will stop, or slow down. If not it also requires a split. (I would again live with it, unless it is drastic). JimN

OK Jim, thanks.
The bolts are already tight, so I am pretty sure it's the gasket.
Split of the tractor? I don't think I'm up to that.
Living with it sounds a lot easier, just so I am not doing any harm by doing nothing.
