Farmall model 504

I've never owned one, but as far as I know there are no known issues to be aware of. Keep in mind that a 504 is 40 plus years old, and could have some issues strictly because of its age, but nothing that cannot be fixed. Just about any parts you might need are readily available.

In my opinion they are a great 45 hp all around useful tractor. Even if a gas one they are very easy on fuel. About the only thing lacking from newer machines would be diff lock. Sometimes pull a 4X5 baler on rolling land and it does very well, not as good as 65 horses but good enuff. See good ones go for 3-4k.

We had a 504 gas for years. Great little chore tractor if you get one with a three point hitch. The motor runs at high speed with decent power but you do not want to lug it down as it looses grunt fast. Now if you could find a diesel 504 it would be a real gem. One thing with the gasser, it has no sleeves so if it needs rebuilding the block has to be bored for oversize pistons. Trouble is unless you find a low houred machine its been overhauled before and you might have to have sleeves fitted making it a bit spendy.
