friend has h serial number 286959.this tractor has 1 gear shift, but it runs faster in 2nd gear position than the 3rd gear position, how can this be?there is no gear pattern on the platform

just a thought, dunno if correct, but there was a reverse operation package avalible for the h for use as a cotton picker platform and utility platforms such as a forklift. maybe some parts got put into yours from one of these.

I don't know if it is possible, but maybe has worked on the transmission, and somehow got the 2nd and 3rd gear turned around?

You have the gears from a I-4 in your H. On the I-4, 2nd is where 3rd is on the H and 3rd is where 2nd is on the H. On the I-4 the forward three positions on the shift lever are R 3 & 4 and the back thee positions are 1 2 & 5.

I-4 shift pattern:

R 3 4
N
1 2 5

Harold H

It's only "rare" because someone messed up putting the transmission back together. A mechanic's screw-up rarely makes the tractor more valuable.

An I4 is a tractor.

It is the industrial version of the W4, which is a "wheatland" or "standard tread" tractor that shares the engine and transmission design with the H.

you would probably have a extremely rare unit if you got a sasquatch suit for to go with the tractor, you should get a lot of money for that combination
