F-20 Starter set up

I was lucky enough to buy a couple of parts tractors one of which had the starter bell housing and flywheel. I have read through most of the old threads regarding this issue. There really isn't a lot of clear info. SO with that I am asking for specifics on just the starter and generator.

1)What was the model or models of the heisler starters. Specifically what markings are on the thing? Also what are the dimensions. Same with the generator assuming these kits had one. Of course pics would be even better, mounted or loose.

2)What other starters work with that bell housing? I have read more than one post where someone thinks M starters work, is this true? Thanks

i assume your missing the starter???

if so, find one for a 30-34 chevrolet car, its the same starter. as far as i know, no other starter will fit. H's amd M's are automatically out of the questions sine they mount to the rear of the flywheel, they would spin the wrong way if put in front like the F-20 needs.

if there are damaged teeth on your flywheel, an M ring gear will work.

generators were usually only had when lights were used. ive knocked lots in the head that only had the starter setup with no generator and no lights.

Thanks, this is a good start. I thought starters did not translate to having a generator automatically. I am sure somebody out there can expand on this. I would like to see some pics.

what do you want a pic of????

Spencer,

I can tell you what I know to be true. Lots if misinformation out there, including the factory starter myth.

My F20 with the Heisler kit has both a Delco starter and Delco generator. Keep in mind that there units could have been changed many times, or be original. They appear to be of the correct vintage and share the same “patina” as the tractor.

Starter model is: 714L, Serial 511469; application seems to be 30-34 Chevy car or truck, 6V
Generator model is 1102667, Serial OH 27; application seems to be a 48 Chevy 216 (35 amp at 2400 rpm, CW rotation, 6V)

Let me know if I can be of further assistance,

Scott

Thank you, thank you, thank you. It's amazing how many of the old threads have info that really doesn't mean much to the guy that can't see what is being discribed. A specific part number or application like this is what I need. Original or not doesn't matter much to me. It is vintage and works.

Are there any other specific applications (ie year and model of a car) or part numbers that can be found????

The pics I would like are simply the starter and generator close up mounted or not. Both would be better, some dimensions would be helpful.

i have a starter of a 33 chevy master sitting on my shelf that is the same part number scott listed. i have yet to find another starter dimensionally correct to this one.

as far as i knew, generator was not always a given with electric start. i have a setup , but its not mounted on anything, just sittin in a box so a picture of that wouldnt do any good. do you want me to take a pic of the starter i have??

Yes, any pic will do. Preferably held by a swimsuit model(female). The reason is if I run across something I may have a clue as to what i'm looking at.

Thanks
