Still having problems with my Cub Light

I am pulling my hair out over the Cub light and I don't have much hair left. I posted before that I had the Cub painted and now one of the lights doesn't work. I tried it on one side and it wouldn't work so I look the other light off and put it in that position and it works. I have power to the light on the outside and the inside and the ground seems to be good at the post of the light but it still won't work. Any ideas as to what else I can do?

Check for continuity from the lug on the back of the light to the mounting stud. If none, you have a problem in the light (bad connection, burnt out bulb . . . ). Or you can try it straight on a battery with a jumper wire.

If you have continuity, put it on the other side and see if it works.

I have had trouble with the little strip in the inside of the light that grounds the light reflector to the main light body. You need to take the light apart and clean the area where that metal strip that looks like a piece of thin brass contacts the main light body. Sometimes you need to bend the brass piece so it makes better contact. Roger

After I posted the first reply I remembered that some Cubs have a ground wire. If yours has a ground wire then you need to make sure all the contacts are clean including the light bulb socket and the wire lugs. Roger

Be cardful bending that strip of brass, it breaks very easy. Sounds to me as if you have a bad socket, or the wire comming out of the back of the socket might be broken inside the insulation

I have taken the lites apart and installed a ground from the reflector to the case. Solved all my problems with the lites. Make sure the paint is scraped off of all parts that touch so the ground can work. Is It neg or pos ground? Henry
