Did a little mowing with the H yesterday

Hi all,
I pulled my 25-V sickle mower out of the weeds and lubed it up and thought I try it out a little since I have not used it in a few years. I did not mow a lot, just a little yesterday. It seemed to work well except the belly pump in my H needs a rebuild job since the cylinder on the mower creeps down slowly. It was fun to use it again. I took some pictures and thought I'd post them here.

H's are sweet machines, aren't they? Yours looks good too. I notice the cut-off rears and the magneto, probably meaning yours was a wartime H. Good guess? I went to a website the other day and believe I figured out the DAY my '39 H was built--I believe on Thursday, August 31, 1939. Interestingly I also learned that while they began building H's in July, 1939, they only seem to have built four of them that entire month.
Thanks for posting the pictures. Any idea of what the parts would cost if I wanted to rebuild my own hydraulic belly pump? And, could a real non-mechanic do it?

No not a guard yet, I have not found one, but I always be careful and turn off the PTO before I get off the tractor.

Thanks, yes the H Farmalls are my most favorite tractor. I have this H and my Dad has 2 H's. They are great. Yes, those are cut-offs on the back, and going by the casting codes on the hubs, they are original to this tractor so this H was originally on steel. It was my Grandpa's tractor before he died 10 years ago. I plan to rebuild the belly pump myself, I've never done it before, but my I&T manual says how to do it. The loader that I used on my H a month or two ago would creep down too and go up slow, so the pump must need rebuilding.

Thanks,
Andy.

WOW! What's all that bright shiny red stuff all over that tractor ?! Does it rub off on everything that gets close to it?

Seriously though , Nice looking H!! ...Randy

I used Dura-Shield IH Red #4205 spray paint on my H. This September, the paint/decal job will already be a year old and it still looks good.

Thanks,
Andy.
