Rear Tire Question

Current tires on M are 12-4-36. They are rotten and need replacing. I would like to put a wider tire on if possible. Any suggestions.
Thanks Harley

I could be wrong but the M should have 38" rims.

I have seen and used 13.6-38, 14.9-38 and 15.5-38.

I like the 15.5's the best

I went to one tire shop yesterday and the cheapest was a 15.5x38 Titan at $465. I just asked for the cheapest out of three sizes used on a M ( 13.6, 14.9 and 15.5 ). Still hoping to find a good used set at an auction. ...Randy

Harley: You can go as wide as you wish, but you may have to buy rims for best performance. Every tire made today is labled with an ideal rim size. That is the size rim to give best traction for that particular tire. If you go wider you may find reduced traction.

Exactly!

The 15.5's are a low profile tire the others are a standup tire. We have had 14.9's on our MD for twenty years now with the same rims that were on it when we got it.

Thanks for the info. Don't know why they are 36" rims. They have been on it for years. There were only two other owners and not sure why they would have changed to 36". These just look so narrow on such a big tractor. I do not intend to do any pulling. Just riding this old baby around and let my grandson enjoy it when I am called home. Harley
