1206 question

It depends. Are you going to go in and weld the shafts so that it is just a direct drive? Is the torque bad and you just don't want to fix it? To some it might not be a big deal if you eliminated the torque. But there are a lot of people out there of the mindset that if it is there, it should work. Eliminating the torque would definitely discourage anybody that wanted to restore it some time down the road. If it is going to stay with you and be one of your work horses then it is your tractor and you can do whatever you want. It would probably bring more on a sale if the torque is out/malfunctioning and all of the parts/pieces are still in place.

If it had TA, fix it. It doesn't make sense to go from 10F+2R to 5F+1R. When you delete the TA you cut your gear choices in half. I want to smack some sense in people who say, "just delete it". For my F504 a delete kit is $599, a reman TA is $650. Do the math and keep it adjusted if working. I mean really, how many tractors in that era had a shift-on-the-fly split shift?

Charles on the 1206 it would be 16 foward gears and 8 reverse with the ta working, to 8 forward and 4 reverse without it.

But I agree, Put the TA back in. You have to split anyway to put inthe TA delete.

I appoligize for the typo there, I was thinking of my 504. The 1206 has a few more gears. When I split mine to replace the main clutch, I replaced the TA clutch as well and did minor work to the TA sprag. I need to split it again and swap in a fresh rebuilt TA. Mine slips sometimes and sometimes it doesn't in TA, DD is fine. I found a TA on Ebay from a parted 504, paid $51.00 + freight, looks good.
