Difference between an A and Super A, Super A1?

I have been fortunate enough to now own a Super A-1. I would be willing to provide pictures and other information anyone may have pertaning to any discussions regarding this tractor.

The big difference between the A and the Super A
that the Super A had hydraulics. The Super A1 was only made in 1954 starting with SN 356001-357958. Some of the later Super A's had the C123 engine used on the Super C tractor with a water pump. Hal
PS: The Super A1 had the FAA prefix on their S/N's too.

Have a Super A with plate on seat support that has FAA A272727 but the engine does not have a water pump. I was told it is a 1949 model.

The earlier Super A'a had the C113 cid engine without the water pump. I think one could be installed and an overbore kit would increase the cid to 123 ci. It was after s/n 356001 that had the water pump. From s/n 310300 to 356001 had the
C123 block with thicker sleeves. Your tractor is a 1949 and it should have the C113 block unless it was changed. Hal
PS: Tractors with s/n 356002 & up could use 3.250" sleeve kit to increase the cid to 133ci.

The Super A-1 I have has the plate on the seat support bracket and has the prefix FAA-1. My serial number is 356054, which indicates a very early production (maybe Jun-July 1954, since the castings date from Mar to May 1954). It is quite possible they may have transitioned the plate for later A-1's to the bell housing, as has been suggested in earlier postings.
Your serial number does indicate a 1949 model.
