'49 Cub transmission fluid

This morning I drained the transmission fluid from the '49 Cub project tractor. The fluid looked like tan colored paint. I have never seen any gear oil that color. As far as I could tell it was clean.
Has anyone seen gear oil that was tan? Is that some special current manufactured stuff or is that perhaps original fluid?

Thank you. I anticipated I better prepare to clean it out so bought a Spectricide sprayer to use kerosene to flush inside the transmission. It means removing the drain plug again.

I am sure that I will appreciate replacing all the fluids, the wiring, sand blasting the battery box (off the tractor) before repainting it, and whatever else I need to do. Better to do this now than to be blissfully ignorant of problems that a little TLC would fix.

I am going to look for square sockets for my old tractors. Those plugs can be a challenge to get loose. Are there old Cub tools (like there are for the old Ford tractors)?

The only tool I'm aware of is a grease gun, 8 pt sockets up to 3/4 can be picked up at Sears. Larger sizes see your Snap-on man. Snap-on also sells square sockets as well as drain plug sockets.
