I have a international 656 utility and am wondering how big of a bush hog you guys think it can handle.
Thanks, Dave

Dave i have a 656 and it handles a 6 foot bush hog good. If you are not mowing real tall grass you might be able to go bigger. But i wouldnt go bigger dan 6 foot.Erik...

The problem is what are you mowing. If the stand isnt heavy and not over 2ft tall you can go like crazy now if stand is thick and tall different deal. Thats what low gear is for how sharp are the blades what height is the front lower than the rear how high a cut. All those things enter in.

I am just cutting a couple acres of old pasture that consists of grass, clover, alfalfa, and weeds. Nothing too bad. I cut it once everythree weeks and use my Kubota with a belly mower but, it works it pretty hard. I figured if I'm going to have the IH sitting around I might as well get a bush hog for it and use it instead. Does anyone in the Indiana area have one for sale cheap? Thanks, Dave

My personal preference is to have a mower wider than your tractor. Especially mowing tall stuff.

That is my plan. My tractor width is 78 inches which would mean I need at least a 7 footer. Those are harder to find used around here and the ones I've found are pretty pricey. THanks, Dave

There is a 7 foot Woods pull type on Ebay that should go cheap. Would I be happy with a pull type or should I go ahead and get the 3 pt type?
