656 Diesel rocker shaft oil?

Last winter I went completely through my 656 diesel with 282ci engine. I"ve run it about 40 hours and the lifters were starting to make some noise so I thought I"d readjust as this seemed normal after a major repair. When I got the cover off I discovered that I"m getting no oil to the top rocker arms. I have 75 psi oil pressure all day long while cutting hay. What could I have missed here? How does the oil pass to the rocker shaft? Please help. Thank you.

Unfortunately I buttoned it up without checking the top end so I'm not sure. My guess is that it wasn't based on how it looks. There is a bit of oil residue up there but it's pretty dry for the most part.

The original overhaul was done because of a cracked head. I had the head welded by a professional (this is his business). It looked real good and is working well. Could he have welded an oil port shut and forget to drill it out??

IIRC, putting a cam bearing in wrong will block oil flow to the head... the back one perhaps?

In the mid-80's, a buddy did just that, and I helped him straighten it out, but it's been a LONG time!

Check the head gasket. Is marked up but will go either way. Wrong way plugs oil passage to rocker arms. Been there done that.

Even though it"s a lot of work I feeling better. Hope it"s just the gasket but at least I have a reason to tear it down. I"m on my way to the shop now. Will let you all know how it turns out. I"d swear I put the gasket in correctly but you never know. Thanks,

You guys were right on the mark. I can't believe I did it but the gasket was upside down. I even remember reading "this side up" and still got it on wrong. Thanks again for the help. She's running great again. I got lucky, no major problems that I could find.
