decals on a b h m

That change was made in the later part of '49. A and B production was over by then so they all said McCormick-Deering. H and M would have changed in '49.

Namimg Committee Decision #895 Dated February 18, 1949 states: "The trade name "McCormick-Deering" will gradually be dropped in the United States and Canada, and the name "McCormick" will be used in the future on all farm tractors, farm equipment and twine."

It goes on to state that existing stocks were expected to be used up by July of '49.

The letter is reproduced in the July 2008 issue of "Harvester Highlights", page 12.

A friend has my Originality Guide at the moment, so I can't nail down the date as well as Red Dave's post, but the IH man-on-tractor Logo didn't appear on the hood decals until, I believe '47, maybe very late '46. So '47 until the phase-out in '49, it was McC-D/Farmall with the logo, and just McCormick Farmall with the logo after that.
