Last fall I bought another Super A. Just pulled it into the shop to work on it. I knew the engine was not original what is it out of? Everything bolts ur right I figure it is a 153ci engine and as I am going to mount my mower on this tractor that is fine. I has a water pump behind the fan.

Jerry: Do I see a dipstick just about the point where hydraulic lines coming from pump go vertical? That being the case, I'm calling it a C-123 out of a 140 or 240. They both have fan hub water pump.

Could be a C-135 out of a 404 or other source, and it could be a C-153.

Having said all of this, any IH engine in that group new enough to have a dipstick and fan hub water pump will also have cubic inches cast into block, visable just behind forward edge of oil filter. About 1/2 way up filter. (C-123, C-135 or C153.

the C153 was in the 91 and 203 combines some swathers and power units. The 504 had a 153 too but the block is different and wont bolt up to the A B C tractors but the combine engines will

IH2444: Yes, but externally that is a different block again, designed to fit those British engineered tractors. It will not bolt up to a Farmall.

Look on the right side of the block...there is a size stamped on a small flat.
I have a Super A with a 153 I installed out of a combine...it will work, but it's a mess of work...and a gas hog.
