ARE THERE ANY TIRE DEALERS OUT THERE THAT SELL GOOD TIRES THAT WONT CRACK IN FIVE YEARS DOWN THE ROAD. VERY EXPENSIVE NOW NOT TO LAST NO LONGER THAN THEY DO ???? KEITH

I hear your frustration!!
Armor All applied every 6mo or so will help. as will tire paint. If used it will wear off.
If kept in doors, it will be less likely. Puting the tire off the ground also helps. JimN

Crack look bad but do not mean the tire needs to be replaced. I have tires on my tractor that have been on for 20 plus years. Ya they have cracks in them but they still work just fine and have been cracked for at least a decade or more

My M has Goodyears (made in USA) that have been on the tractor for a long time; I don't know how many years. The're sliced up, a few chunks missing here and there, weather cracks from the [i:559c75656d]uv[/i:559c75656d] of the Arizona sun and they are still going strong. One sidewall is sliced up so that if you pull the rubber back; the cord is clearly visible.

This is a working tractor so the tires don't see much in the way of protective sprays. :)

The 13.8x38's on my F504D are about 25-30 years old. They "pop" while driving, the rubber is pealing on the sidewalls and you can see the nylon carcass. They have about half tread left (no on-road use) and hold air, not to mention they are loaded to 90% with pure water. I know I need new ones, but until one fails I am going to "GAS ON IT". Just gotta keep them out of a serious bind.

I've heard two things from a variety of places that I trust regarding tires.... First, sun is by far the biggest cause of cracked tires, and second, Firestone tires are the most resistant to weather checking. I believe both due to some experiences as well as the level of respect I have for the people who passed the information to me.

Overall you may be right but I have 15.9 Goodyears on my Super M that came new on 3020 John Deere in mid sixtys and they only have minor cracks. I have 13.6 Firestones on my M that are about 5 years old and they are begining to crack.
