Farmall M Stroker Crank

Upon teardown of my presumably stock '51 "M", I have discovered that it has a 4.125" bore, Conformatic Step Head pistons, Hi perf camshaft, ported and polished head and an unidentified, balanced, stroker crankshaft. The crankshaft has "M 262" and "Nick Hart" stamped on it. I need to replace the pistons and rings, but am having trouble getting pistons that will not hit the head. Does anybody know anything about this crankshaft?

The #1 piston has a hole in it. I can't find the exact piston anywhere for a replacement so I am planning to get 4 new ones.

Just to add more info, the part number on the crank is 45571 DC. I don't find this one listed in the parts catalog, but found one site that says it is a 400 crank. The one the parts book shows for a 400 is not DC though. Any help?

I have the 4.125 bore stroker pistons if you need them. All I would need to know is what cyl head you have and how much stroke it has. Id assume it would be in the 5.75 to 6 inch stroke range. Email is open. ChadS

I am really not sure now if it is a stroker or not. It turns out this may be a 400 crank (45571 DC). As far as I can tell, the 400 and the M had a 5.25" stroke.

Id check the stroke for sure,,, If a piston/rod assembly is still in the block, put a piston a bottom dead center and measure from the top of the block down to the lowest part of the piston head,, not the dome,, but the flat part of the piston. I have a couple of New comfortmatic pistons here if needed, stock stroke, or stroker. Id sell ya one or two if needed. Chad

Sounds great! I will let you know. By the way, with a DB head, what do you think the compression would be with those pistons. I still can't believe that I bought a completely stock looking, beat up tractor to restore, and it has all of these aftermarket parts in it.

Kinda wild isn't it? Its like buying a 1965 Pontiac Tempest and later discovering a GTO big-block and tri-power carbs under the hood!

Crankshaft number you have is the last small journal M crank used before they changed to large journal. Still it could be made into a stroker crank, most times they liked to use a large journal crank for that though.
Is the block sleeveless, or bored to use the 4.125 pistons?

Chad, I tried to e-mail you a couple of times with the info you wanted. I am just making sure that you got them. Thanks again for your help!
