Ready to cultivate field peas

I finished putting on the cultivator last night. It is a power lift model I got from Roger Sorum in Texas. Roger is a great guy. The rig seems to work really well, but I really need a set of side shields. Anyone got a set that would work?

Thanks,

Scott in SC

Wow! Very nice tractor and cultivator! It looks like a fun tractor to use. Do you have the electric start setup? I was wondering because I saw the amp box mounted on the steering support.

Andy.

Nice outfit. I was kinda wondering what field peas were? Are they the hard pea sometimes used in feed mixes or some type meant for human consumption?

I use the “old 20” to plant and will use if for cultivation on my small (very small) organic operation. The old girl is a real blast!
The term ‘Southern Field Peas’ refers to hundreds of different varieties of peas that are subdivided into four main groups: field peas, Crowder peas, cream peas and black-eyed peas. They are for human consumption but can also be used for animal consumption. Cultivating them is a lot like soybeans. They make a great second crop here in SC. For more information look here: http://www.ag.ndsu.edu/pubs/alt-ag/fieldpea.htm or http://www.slowfoodusa.org/ark/southern_field_peas.html

Take care,

Scott

Good eye. Yea, the old girl has a Heisler electric start along with a Heisler Intake/exhaust manifold, a 4 inch bore kit vice the stock 3.75 in bore to increase displacement from 220 cubic inches to 251 cubic inches, a Heisler Overdrive providing eight forward speeds and two reverse, and a “Variable” speed governor. I love to use the old girl.

Take care,

Scott

The F-20's are nice old tractors, I bought a '38 F-20 a while back, I have not got it picked up yet, but I hope to get it picked up soon.

Andy.

Scott.
I have a two row F-20 cultivator that I have not had on since 1974. Mine has a setup that hooks into that tongue on the front bolster of the tractor so you can steer the front gangs when there down then it releases so you can make your turns at the ends it worked well.
My dad took two old cult. in the late 50's and made a four row for his F-20. I have two F-20's set up with all the goodies that's on your's, But mine are on 36" rubber and they have fender's and lights on them.
That 4" bore makes a hoss out of them don't it? I put the jets and ventura out of a W-30 in my carbs. dropped right in and adds H.P.
Have fun running that old work horse I miss getting to work mine there just big toys now.

Big Bore,

Good to hear from you. Yea, the old tractors are stout aren’t they.

You wouldn’t have two pair of side shields I could fit to my cultivator would you?

Thanks,
Scott

Scott,
I may have a pair of side sheilds, But I won't be able to look for them till winter. The weeds back where they would be are 5ft over my head full of ticks and chiggers. The sheilds may have rusted to paper thin by now?
We only used them when the beans was shorter than 6" then we would remove them for taller ones than that.
The piece thats not on your's for steering the front gangs would be a greater asset to have than the sheilds in my option. I don't see how you keep the front gangs from walking side to side with out it.
Sorry I can't be more help.
BIG BORE
