factory holes in seat pan, just wondering what for?

Those holes do look factory, but I've never seen anything similar on any H or M. I'd bet that seat pan is NOT original to that tractor.
 
have to look but i think my H seat has those holes too. it was the factory seat off my dad's 1940 H, which got the shock seat in the 60s, and the 1940 seat sat on the rock pile for me to discover 40 years later. convienient since mine had a 300 seat on it.

If you look closely at Jeff Bauers restored LPG H posted above, you will see the same seat. I had a H with the same setup that Jeff has on his, and it had a seat just like the one in this photo. I think it was a Knodler (sp) or something simular.
Anyway, Tom Windsor has it now, and he has his work cut out for him. (wore completely out)

The seat pan on Jeff bauers H appears to be the original style for an H or an M. Look closely, and you will see that the seat pan on Jeffs tractor does not have those same holes in it.
